Development and Automation Support
for MassAccess, 2020 - Present

In early 2020 the COVID-19 pandemic forced the closure of courthouses across Massachusetts–effectively terminating access to justice for many pro se litigants dependent on court services for motions concerning areas of law such as housing, domestic violence, family Law and Immigration. In response, the Suffolk University Legal Innovation and Technology Lab organized a group of volunteers to design and develop a novel civic technology solution for online court filings.

As a volunteer, I primarily worked on two features of the online court filing system. First, I worked to convert paper and pdf court paperwork into digital forms. Using Adobe Acrobat, I parsed court filing paperwork into computer readable formats.

Second, I worked to develop a novel solution for automated court assignments for the Boston Municipal Court (BMC) system. Before the launch of this platform, the BMC system had no means of digitally assigning litigants to a BMC court. I worked to implement custom python scripting paired with geojson data to provide seamless court assignments and jurisdiction information to litigants using the MassAccess Court Filing platform.

Boston Society of Architects, Committee on Resilient Environments

Founder and Co-Chair, 2015 – 2017

As our sea levels rise, our storms strengthen, and global climate change impacts our urban environments, the architecture and planning industries must respond with resilient solutions and adaptive environments. The Committee on Resilient Environments (CORE) seeks to better understand the problems we face and the many strategies we can employ for a more resilient future.

As the founder and co-chair of the committee at the Boston Society of Architects, I worked to develop programming, foster a community of professionals, and advance the industry’s focus on building urban resilience in the face of extreme events–climatic, social, economic, etc.

Architectural Designer at Elkus Manfredi Architects

Education

General Assembly

Certificate in Data Science, 2017

General Assembly’s Data Science Certificate course dives into the essentials of data science: Python programming, exploratory data analysis, data modeling, and machine learning. The course provides hands-on experience needed to synthesize extremely large data sets, build predictive models, and tell a compelling story to stakeholders.

As a student in this course with General Assembly Boston, I was able to translate the skills learned into a successful career as the lead Data Scientist at Arrowstreet within a few months of graduation.

During the course, my capstone project focused on writing optimization algorithms and unsupervised learning procedures to develop mobility solutions for the Boston Public School District.

North Carolina State University

Bach. of Environmental Design, 2010 – 2012
Bach. of Architecture, 2012 – 2013

Graduated Summa Cum Laude with a professional degree in architecture. Research focused on the computational and parametric design process.

First independent study focused on the application of technology for the development of policy and regulatory mechanisms related to form based code in Durham, NC.

Second independent study focused on interaction and installation design, pairing digital sensing technologies with physical actuators, sensors, and microcontrollers.

Northeastern University

Candidate for Bachelor of Science in Architecture, 2008 - 2010

Two years at Northeastern University in the B.S in Architecture program provided a concrete foundation in urban design and an introduction to the various challenges facing our cities and built environment.
